Knickerbocker Music Center
Come out to the Knick for A Band Called PoP playing renditions of favorites from Blondie, Led Zeppelin, Heart, Alanis Morrisette, Taylor Swift and many more. A Band Called PoP is an auditioned student ensemble at the UNITED Music School, the UNITED Theatre, and the Knickerbocker Music Lab in Westerly, RI with participants representing 4 high schools from southern Rhode Island and southeastern Connecticut. With more than one hour of solid pop favorites on their setlist, including guitar and drum solos, killer harmonies, and stage antics, their sound leaves audiences stymied at how young they are but clamoring for more.
PoP includes Logan Duranti - Westerly High junior, lead guitar; Ben Labonte - Chariho High junior, guitar; Leo Paradise - Chariho High junior, bass guitar; Josh Olson - Stonington High senior, percussion; Sadie Howell - Westerly High senior, vocals; Alexa Checchi - Stonington High junior, vocals; and Mia Vieira - Westerly High freshman, tech. Unlike other youth ensembles, PoP focuses on character and leadership development as well as music education. These talented teens plan, create, problem solve, evaluate, and learn as a group, gaining invaluable life skills. They emerge from their time with PoP as the next generation of musicians, leaders and community members.
Please note that the Knick no longer has a working kitchen. Pre-packaged concession snacks and soft drinks will be available for purchase (cashless payments only).
